Lappe, who was 9-for-12 from the field, poured in a game high 23 points. Rump was a single digit less at 22 points, connecting on 8-of-15 attempts. Drew DeVine posted his second consecutive double digit evening adding 12 points to the cause. Austin Bildstein, who led the Norse with six rebounds, was credited with nine points.
Both teams shot well. Luther connected on over 51 percent of its attempts, while Hamline shot an even 50 percent. The Norse made 29 trips to the free throw line, making 21. Hamline was 8-of-10 from the charity stripe. The Norse also won the battle of the boards, out rebounding the Pipers 35-29. Luther took a 10 point lead late in the first period, only to see Hamline fight back to a 41-37 halftime deficit. The Norse outscored the Pipers 45-35 in the second stanza.
The win was Luther's second in a row and evened its overall record to 3-3. Hamline lost for the second time in an many games and is now 2-5. Click here for game statistics.
Luther returns to action on Saturday afternoon. The Norse will host Northwestern College (MN) with tip-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
