Texas Lutheran 55, Texas-Dallas 43

SEGUIN, Texas — The Texas Lutheran men’s basketball team held UT-Dallas to 23 points over the final 32 minutes of action in the Bulldogs’ 55-43 conference win Tuesday night in Memorial Gymnasium.

Texas Lutheran (3-4, 2-3 ASC) trailed 17-5 with 12 minutes to play in the first half but ended the half on a 20-6 run. TLU took a 25-23 lead into the halftime.

The Bulldogs continued the defensive pressure in the second half by holding UT-Dallas to 0-of-10 shooting on three-point attempts and to 9-of-27 overall shooting in the second half.

Each team ended the game with 18 field goals. But nine of Texas Lutheran’s 18 field goals were three-pointers. The Bulldogs were 9-of-20 from the arc. TLU’s Nate Walton was 3-for-5 from the three-point line, and Will Hudson made four of his eight three-point attempts.

Hudson, a senior wing, led TLU with 16 points. He added five rebounds and two steals. Walton, a true freshman, scored 15. Hunter Holsonback was the only other Bulldog in double figures. He scored 10. Holsonback also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

UT-Dallas (0-6, 0-3 ASC) received 10 points and nine rebounds from Adam Bush, who was held scoreless in the second half. Tyron Hurt, Jay Swafford, and Kersh Milson each added eight points.

UT-Dallas shot 38.3 percent for the night and committed 19 turnovers with just seven assists. TLU committed 11 turnovers and had 14 assists.

TLU point guard Jason Morales dished out seven assists and had just one turnover. Morales also tallied three steals.

The Bulldogs continue ASC action on Dec. 16 and Dec. 18 with road games at Austin College and the University of the Ozarks (Ark.), respectively. TLU plays Austin College at 5:30 p.m. in Sherman, Texas, and meets Ozarks at 2 p.m. in Clarksville, Ark.
