Cortland State 57, Ithaca 55

ITHACA, N.Y. — Cortland held off a late Ithaca rally to beat the host Bombers 57-55.

Senior guard Jim Bellis (Bloomfield Central/East Bloomfield) led the Bombers with 14 points. Senior forward Brian Andruskiewicz (Montville/Oakdale, Conn.) added 12.

Ithaca cut Cortland's lead -- which had been as many as seven points -- to two on a lay-up by junior forward Sean Stahn (Ardsley/Scarsdale) with 5:37 left but the visiting Red Dragons, who won their sixth straight, held the Bombers to one basket the rest of the game.

Junior guard Dave Maggiacomo (Arlington/Pleasant Valley) and Frank Ranieri (Cicero-North Syracuse/Cicero) each scored 11 points to lead four Red Dragons in double figures. Senior forward Simon Skrelja (Hastings/Hastings-on-Hudson) pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds off the bench.
