The Eagles (4-3, 2-1 LMC) were led by their top three scorers – Charlie Averkamp, Ryan Johnsen, and Seth Cooper – who combined for 66 of the team’s points. Averkamp had a game-high 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the floor, while Johnsen followed with 25 points on 11-of-14 shooting. Johnsen also flirted with a triple-double by adding a team-best nine rebounds to go along with six assists. Cooper finished with 15 points.
Edgewood College shot 63.6 percent as a team, including a remarkable 19-of-26 (73.1%) shooting effort in the first half, which led to a 48-32 lead over the Crusaders (1-7, 0-2 LMC) at intermission.
Maranatha had the hot hand from beyond the perimeter knocking down five of their first seven three-point attempts. Josh Burch and Micah Pfaffe netted four three-pointers each as the Crusaders finished with 11 three-point baskets. Burch and Pfaffe tallied 18 and 14 points, respectively. Richard Febus added 15 points coming off of the bench.
The Eagles garnered 21 takeaways, but committed 18 turnovers on the offensive end, many of which were unforced. However, Edgewood College did team up for 27 assists and six blocked shots -- both season highs. Freshman Jon Ciche posted three blocks in just 12 minutes on the court.
