Kelly Applegate led both squads with 19 points and 13 rebounds as Moravian outlasted Drew, 66-53 in Madison. Despite superb performances from Courtney Cunningham, Melissa Kraft and Maggie Marquis, the Rangers were not able to overcome the Greyhounds’ advantage in the paint as Moravian improved to 7-0 on the season. Drew fell to 4-2.
After a crisply player first half, in which Drew drained six three pointers, ended 36-30, Moravian used Applegate’s inside prowess and a number of key defensive stops to hold off the Rangers. The Greyhounds also hit 13 of 14 free throws in the contest. Kelly Rizman contributed 11 points and Stephanie Seaman added 12 for visitors.
The Rangers, who saw both Cunningham and Kraft play all 40 minutes and Marquis 36, got 45 of their 53 points from the triumvirate of juniors. Kraft added ten boards and five assists as well. Drew shot only six free throws for the entire match.
The Rangers will face Stevens tomorrow at home.
