Moravian used a 20-5 second half run to hold off Drew in Madison, 73-64. Mark Franzyshen scored 16 points and Chris Earley dropped in 15 as the Greyhounds improved to 2-5 on the season. Drew’s Sam Taub led both squads with 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Rangers fell to 3-3 on the season.
With the score tied at 35 with 16 minutes remaining in the game, the Greyhounds built a 15 point led on the back of their run. Ed Reid, Franzysh and Michael Cleme all hit three pointers during the six minute span. The Rangers rallied to close the gap to five points with two minutes remaining as Damon Dilorenzo and Bob Carella both nailed a pair of threes. Dilorenzo, a sophomore guard from East Chester, N.Y., scored 13 points in the game while Carella, a junior forward, finished with 14 points and six boards.
A key jumper by Earley and a layup from Zach Zsilavecz, who contributed 14 points from the bench for the Greyhounds, sealed the victory for the visitors.
Drew is back in action on Wednesday as they take on local rivals Stevens at 7 p.m. in Baldwin Gym.
