KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men’s basketball team (1-5, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) lost to No. 38 Carroll College (Wis., 5-0), 82-74, on Monday, Dec. 5 at the Carthage Physical Education Center in Kenosha, Wis. Carroll (Wis.) jumped out to a 15-point lead in the first half, 26-11, at 8:52. The Red Men got to within six points on three occasions, and the Pioneers led by as much as 16, 43-27, at 1:26. Carroll (Wis.) led by eight points at the break, 43-35. In the second half, the Pioneers went up by 15 points, 61-46, at 9:33, before Carthage went on a 22-7 run to tie the contest, 68-68, at 4:41. The Red Men had a second tie, 71-71, at 3:19, before Carroll (Wis.) closed things with an 11-3 run and an eight-point victory, 82-74. The Pioneers shot 44 percent (29-66), while the Red Men shot 42 percent (27-65). Four Carthage players scored in double figures. Trey Bowens had 20 points on seven-of-16 field goals, including five-of-nine from three-point range, along with six assists. Mark Morrison had 13 points, Kyle Jeffery 12 points and five rebounds, and Malik Imani chipped in 11 points with six boards. Carroll’s Nate Drury led all scorers with 26 points on nine-of-19 from the floor, including four-of-10 three-pointers, four-of-five free throws, a game-high 11 rebounds and five assists. Jason Scheper added 14 points and nine boards. Carthage plays host to Beloit College (3-2) on Wednesday, Dec. 7, also at the Carthage PEC.
