The win upped the Leopards' record to 4-2 and was their first in as many conference contests. The Nor'easters fell to 1-3 overall, 0-1 in league play.
With the scored tied at 73-73, Doyle knocked down his third 3-pointer to give the Wentworth the lead for good at the 1:56 mark. The Leopards made 7 of 8 free throws in the final 23 seconds to help put away the Nor'easters.
The game was tight throughout, with Wentworth taking a 36-33 lead into halftime. The winners shot 53.6 percent (15 of 28) in the first frame and were 21 of 24 (90.9 percent) from the free throw line for the afternoon.
Doyle was 8-for-13 from the floor, including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. Ed Bolton '08 (Silver Springs, Md.) chipped in with 16 points, making half of his eight 3-point attempts. Frankie Hall '06 (Boston, Mass.) added 12 points on 6-for-9 accuracy from the field.
Nick Farynaz '07 (Gray, Maine) matched his career high with 22 points to pace UNE. He converted 10 of 12 shots from the floor. Isaac Stickney '08 (Rumford, Maine) scored 14 points and grabbed a game-best seven rebounds. John Marriott '08 (Fairfax, Vt.) had 11 points and Matt McManus '06 (Cumberland, Maine) 10.
The Leopards will be looking to make it three in a row Tuesday when they host New England College. UNE has a road engagement with Colby-Sawyer College that same day.
