Robert Morris-Springfield 75, Rockford 57ROCKFORD, Ill. — The men’s basketball game against the Eagles of Robert Morris College-Springfield started out well enough. Dupree Powell (Rockford, IL/Jefferson) opened up scoring for the initially very low-scoring game on Saturday. The lead changed hands several times over the first ten minutes as the Regents tried to keep the Eagles’ shots from flying into the net. Ten minutes into the game, only 28 points had been scored. The scoring began to pick up before the half, though, and it was mostly in favor of the Eagles. In spite of the Regents’ best efforts, the Eagles were up by 13 at the half. In the second half, the Regents played the Eagles close and performed much better. However, the 13-point deficit from the first half was too much to overcome as the Eagles ran the lead as high as 22 as the Regents battled valiantly onward. At the end of the second half, the Regents had fallen 75-57, having kept a close pace with the Eagles for the second half, 30-35. The Regents’ record is now 3-4. They play at home against Augustana on Monday, December 5.
