CARLISLE, Penn. — Junior forward Joey Breslin (Hagerstown, MD/St. Maria Goretti) scored a career-high 28 points to lead visiting Washington College past host Dickinson, 81-74, in a Centennial Conference men's basketball game this afternoon in Carlisle, PA. The Shoremen improved to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play with the win, while the Red Devils slipped to 2-4 and 1-1 with the loss.CC Washington College Shoremen

Dickinson scored the first four points of the game before the Shoremen went on a 12-0 run, capped off by a lay-up by senior guard Dustin Abbate with 13:55 to play. The Red Devils responded by outscoring Washington, 22-7, over the next seven and one-half minutes to take a 26-19 lead on a lay-up by Mike Geosits with 6:28 to go in the period. Washington climbed back into the game and cut the lead to 36-33 when senior forward Scott Polyniak tipped in a rebound at the end of the period.
The Red Devils held a 40-35 lead in the early goings of the second half, but a 13-4 spurt by the Shoremen gave Washington a 48-44 lead on a jumper by senior guard Travis Moore with 13:36 remaining. Dickinson came back to tie the score twice, the second time at 50-50 with 10:46 to play, but a pair of Moore free throws with 10:33 on the clock gave the Shoremen the lead for good. Washington led, 74-66, with less than a minute and a half remaining, but the Red Devils came back to cut the lead to 75-74 on a three-pointer by Brad Litchfield with 17 seconds left. The Shoremen held on for the win, however, by shooting 6-for-6 at the free throw line the rest of the way.
Breslin shot 8-of-14 from the field and 11-of-14 from the charity stripe en route to his 28 points. He also pulled down 13 rebounds and two blocks in the win. Abbate added 17 points for Washington, while Moore finished with nine.
Matt Keys and Mike Geosits shared team-high scoring honors for Dickinson with 21 points each. Litchfield finished with 10 points for the Red Devils.
Washington shot 41% in the game to Dickinson's 50%, but committed just 16 turnovers to the Red Devils' 26.
