Colby 78, Brooklyn 58

WATERVILLE, Maine — Drew Cohen (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) had 19 of his game-high 23 points in the first half as the Colby College men's basketball team rolled to a 78-58 win over Brooklyn College in the first day of the Colby Invitational on Saturday night at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

The Mules (3-2) will play Babson College in the title game Sunday at 3 p.m. Brooklyn (4-1) goes up against University of Maine at Farmington in the consolation game at 1 p.m.

Cohen shot 8-for-13 from the field and was 7-for-7 from the foul line while adding game-highs of 14 rebounds and four blocked shots. Cohen has 22 blocked shots in five games.

Colby's Mark Gaudet (Bingham, Maine) had a collegiate-high 17 points on 5-for-6 shooting from 3-point range and also had seven rebounds and three assists. Andrew Jenkins (Gorham, Maine) added 13 points, while Nick Farrell (Aspen, Colo.) finished with six assists. Mike King (Elmhurst, Ill.) came off the bench with eight points for the winners.

Colby had 30 points in the first eight minutes of the game and led 47-26 at halftime. The Mules shot 64 percent (16-for-25) in the first half and ended up at 55 percent for the game.

Brooklyn College got 17 points from Jeff Jean-Baptiste (Queens, N.Y.) and 13 points and five rebounds from Damek Mair (Brooklyn, N.Y.).
