Dauksas and Freeman accounted for Illinois Wesleyan's (5-0) first 12 points of the second stanza as the Titans opened up a 40-33 lead 4:05 into the half. Freeman paced the Titans with 18 points and eight rebounds on the afternoon, while Dauksas collected 17 points and six assists.
Chicago (4-3) held the lead for more than 18 minutes in the first period before a basket by Freeman with 26 seconds to go tied the score at 28-28 at the break.
The Titans built their largest advantage at 62-51 on a layup by Freeman at the 3:18 mark.
Chicago then went on a 9-2 run to cut the gap to 64-60 with 45 seconds remaining. Jesse Meyer scored five points during that stretch, including a three-pointer at the 1:19 mark. He finished the day with six three-point baskets and a game-high 20 points.
Illinois Wesleyan hit seven of eight free throw attempts in the game's final minute. Dauksas sunk a pair of shots with 41 seconds to go, before Freeman hit both of his tries with 29 seconds left.
With the Titans ahead 70-67 with five seconds showing on the clock, Illinois Wesleyan's Mike McGraw missed the first of two tries, but hit the second to seal the victory.
Brandon Woodhead finished with 18 points, six assists, and four steals for the Maroons, while Jason Hicks contributed 12 points.
The Titans shot 52.0% from the field and held the Maroons to a .386 mark. Illinois Wesleyan was also successful on 12 of 15 free throw attempts in the second period.
