Elms 67, Becker 65

LEICESTER, Ma. — Elms College senior forward Danielle Dugre (Holyoke, MA) poured in a season-high 28 points, including what stood as the game-winning three-point play with three seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Blazers to a 75-65 win over Becker College in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women’s basketball opener for both teams at Leicester, Massachusetts.

The Blazers trailed 65-64 with three seconds remaining in overtime before Dugre converted a crucial put-back and drained the ensuing free throw after being fouled for what stood as the game-winning three-point play.

With the win, the Blazers snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 2-3 overall, 1-0 NAC. Becker fell to 2-3 overall, 0-1 NAC.

Sophomore point guard Michelle Fernandes (Danbury, CT) added 17 points, including four 3-pointers for the Blazers, who forced the Hawks into 24 turnovers.

Elms College returns to NAC play on Tuesday, January 6 at Lesley University. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
