Kenyon scored first, as the game went back and fourth early in the first half. The Lords held a three-point lead with 12:28 left in the half, before the Gators went on a 10-0 run, taking a seven-point, 20-13 lead with 9:04 to play in the period. The Gators would keep the lead the rest of the game and took a nine-point, 43-34 lead into the locker room.
The second half was crucial for Allegheny, already having lost two halftime leads this season. Tough defense by the Gators, along with 10 points by sophomore Ben Torsney (Morgantown, W. Va.) helped secure the win. Allegheny led by as many as 16 points two different times, including a 60-44 lead with 10:59 to play before cruising to the nine-point victory.
Freshman Ryan Hollihan (Saxonburg/ Knoch) led the team in rebounds for the fourth time in six games, pulling in nine, while Majzlik notched six.
The Lords were led by Bryan Yelvington’s double-double (31 points, 10 rebounds), while Tyler Rehm and Josh Klinger had 11 points apiece.
Allegheny returns to action Wednesday, December 7 when it hosts Westminster College at 7:30 p.m.
