Albright 73, Elizabethtown 64

READING, Pa. — Elizabethtown fell 74-65 on the road against Commonwealth Conference rival Albright College Saturday night. The Blue Jays dropped to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference with the loss, while Albright, the defending conference champion, improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth with the win.

Sophomore Chad Piersol (Elverson, PA/Owen J. Roberts) led Elizabethtown in scoring with 13 points and in rebounding with eight rebounds. He shot 6-for-12 from the field. Senior Brian Schreiber (Mechancisburg, PA/East Pennsboro) added 12 points and shot 5-for-8 from the field, 1-for-2 from three-point range, and 1-for-2 from the free throw line. Fellow senior Brad Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds for Etown. Luke Ledyard (Frederick, MD/Gov. Thomas Johnson) added nine points and led Etown in assists with five from off the bench.

Albright’s top scorer and rebounder was Trevor Deeter with 19 points and 13 boards, and he had five assists. Tom Murphy added 12 points and four rebounds for Albright, and Lee Walter had eight points, six rebounds, and a game-high total of three blocked shots.

Albright out-rebounded Etown 51-44. Elizabethtown made 16 steals against seven for Albright. The Blue Jays shot 13-for-22 (59.1%) from the free throw line, while Albright went 19-for-27 (70.4%) from the line.

Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Monday, December 5 in a non-conference game against King’s College (Pa.) at 7:00 p.m. Etown narrowly defeated King’s 84-83 when the teams met in Elizabethtown’s L.B. Smith Ford Blue Jay Classic tournament November 19.
