HAWYARD, Ca — In a West Region D3 Independent match-up, the Chapman Panthers finished off the Slugs, 43-38. The Panthers pulled away from a 12 point half-time lead behind a 68% field goal percentage in the second half. Meanwhile, the Slugs just couldn’t put the ball in the basket as they were held to a 34% shooting night, and a dismal 36% from the charity stripe.

The Panthers ended the game shooting 52% from the field, and led by as many 30 points in the second half. Sarah Brands recorded a double-double and led all scorers with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Jennifer Pineda added 18 points in just 18 minutes.

For UCSC, Jenna Chabot was the lone Slug to record double-digits as she totaled 11 points on the night to go along with a team-high 8 rebounds. For the Slug backcourt, Tina Beams had 8 points and 4 assists, Rachel Ocampo had 8 points and 2 steals, and Kayleigh Calandri added 7 points.
