New York University 73, St. Joseph's (L.I.) 49

— The New York University men's basketball team defeated S.t Joseph's College (LI) 73-49 to earn its fifth straight victory on Thursday, December 1 at the Jerome S. Coles Sports & Recreation Center in Manhattan.

Juinor Jason Boone recorded his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while junior Michael DeCorso posted a game-high 16 points. Senior Jared Kildare added 13 points and a season-high eight points.

NYU (5-0) scored first on a dunk by Boone, but the Golden Eagles tied the game two on a lay-up by Joe Meglio. St. Joe's stayed even with the Violets throughout the first 10 minutes, but a jumper by junior Chael Clark pushed NYU's lead to eight points (20-12) and they never looked back. The Violets second half lead swelled to 28 (70-42) with 1:42 left, before they settled on a 73-49 victory.

Sophomore Michael Magee provided eight points off the bench for NYU, while junior Matt Basford registered six points.

Joe Meglio led the Golden Eagles (1-1) with a double-double (13 points/10 rebounds), while David Acree and Jorge Martinez each added eight points.
