Luther held a 24-8 cushion with 8:18 in the opening half before the Knights rallied back and trimmed the margin all the way down to 34-29 after freshman guard Casey Huber drained a three-pointer to open the final stanza.
It was all Norse from that point. A stifling pressure defense combined with cold Wartburg field goal shooting opened the margin up. Luther took off on a 38-12 run after Huber’s trey and led by as many as 31 points.
Head coach Jane Hildebrand’s squad had three players in double figures. Anne Bautch, Anne Straate and Melissa O’Brien ended the evening with 10 points apiece.
Sophomore guard Diana Mullins turned in a 13-point outing for the home team. Huber added 11 and nailed two three-pointers in the process.
