Wilson along with classmate Jeff Nero, senior Ray Gillespie and freshman Josh Parisi combined for 47 of the Jackets' 57 points in the victory.
Parisi and Wilson were the lone Jackets to shot above 35 percent in the contest. Wilson made 7-of-10 attempts, including 4-of-4 from three-point territory and was the lone Waynesburg player to reach double-digits.
Parisi and Gillespie both finished with eight points and along with Nero, the trio combined for 17 of WC's 25 rebounds.
Neither the Yellow Jackets nor the Bobcats shot above 32 percent from the field for the game. UPG shooters went ice cold following a first half that saw them shot 43.8 percent from the floor. The Bobcats made just nine of 25 attempts (17.2 percent) from the field in the second half after taking a 13-point lead into halftime.
In trimming the halftime deficit, the Jackets went on a 14-0 run during a five-minute stretch over the end of the first half and beginning of the second half. WC took its first lead of the contest 43-42 with nine-plus minutes remaining in the game when Gillespie converted a three-point play (field goal and free throw attempt).
With Waynesburg holding a 55-52 lead, Wilson made two foul shots with 27 seconds left in the game to make it a two-possession game. After a Jacket turnover, UPG was unsuccessful on four shot attempts in the final 10 seconds to cut into the Jacket lead.
Kevin Johnson led Pitt-Greensburg with 16 points, while David Winfrey had 10. Clint Mullen led all players with 16 rebounds, including eight offensive rebounds.
With the win over UPG, the Jackets prevented going 0-4 to start a season for the first time since the 1968-69 season when they were coached by Hal King.
Waynesburg (1-3) returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Frederick, Md., to face Hood College for a 7 p.m. start.
