The Bison drop to 1-2, while Coast Guard improves to 3-1. The Bison will host Colby-Sawyer on Saturday, Dec. 4 at Nichols College (3 p.m.).
Nichols fell behind by 10 points, midway through the second half. The Bison closed the gap with some pressure defense with six minutes to play. Jermaine Baskerville hit a driving layup to cut the lead, 66-64, with just under seven minutes to play. The Bison, who had 20 turnovers in the game, gave up the ball four straight times and the Coast Guard hit some key baskets to stop the Nichols attack.
Bison senior guard Anthony Smith finished the game with 10 points and 11 assists, while freshman Justin Lewis had 13 points and eight rebounds.
Freshman Craig Johnson led the Coast Guard with 18 points, while freshman Al Sowers added 15 in the win.
