Four MIC players reached double figures, including Vasiliu and freshman Mike Dunham, who tagged a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists. Sophomore Curtis Gadles, the reigning NAC Player of the Week, posted 18 points along with nine rebounds, and freshman Ronald Lane tallied a career collegiate high of 12 points.
The Crusaders wore Mount Ida down, corroding a 10-point MIC advantage five minutes into the second half on the strength of a 20-6 run to make it 68-66 in favor of the visitors. In that seven-minute span, senior Larry Kearney scored 11 of his 32 points on the night. The 6-8 senior also pulled down 17 rebounds. MIC soon regained control on Gadles’ trifecta with 4:20 remaining in regulation for the 77-75 edge and never looked back.
