Rhode Island College 96, Fitchburg State 70

PROVIDENCE, RI. — Rhode Island College capitalized on 27 Fitchburg State turnovers and went on to defeat the Falcons, 96-70, in collegiate men’s basketball action. The Anchormen even their record at 2-2, while FSC remains winless at 0-4.

RIC exploded mid-way through the first half and built a 26-point, 58-32, lead at the break. The Anchormen kept on rolling in the second half, especially from downtown, connecting on 15-30 attempts from behind the three-point arc on the night. Seven different Anchormen hit at least one three-pointer, led by sophomore Kinsey Durgin (Greenwood, ME) who made five. Durgin led all scorers with 24 points and grabbed three boards with two assists and a steal in the win. Freshman guard Davon Yarbrough (New Haven, CT) pumped in a career-high 19 points with four steals, three rebounds and two assists off of the bench.

Senior forward Jason Harris (Bedford, MA) had 13 points, seven boards and three steals. Sophomore guard Kamari Williams (Springfield, MA) had 11 points, five assists and two steals.

FSC sophomore center Nick Smith (Leominster, MA) had 17 points, three boards and three blocks in a losing effort.

In upcoming action, RIC will host Roger Williams on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m.
