St. Olaf 79, Martin Luther 53

NEW ULM, Minn. — The St. Olaf men's basketball team stayed unbeaten with their 79-53 win over Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minn. Monday night. The Oles (3-0) open MIAC play on Wednesday at Augsburg College in Minneapolis.

Jon Butala had 13 and Andy Grimsrud 12 points in the win.

St. Olaf led 50-25 at the half, and shot a season-best 52.8% from the field while Martin Luther shot just 32.1%.

All 14 Oles that played scored. First year Eric Scholten had nine points in just ten minutes and Bobby Hunter added eight.

St. Olaf's 3-0 start is their best since a 5-0 start in 1995-96.

The Oles open MIAC play Wednesday against Augsburg at Si Melby Hall in Minneapolis. The game can be heard on 920 AM KDHL and via the St. Olaf Athletics website at www.stolaf.edu/athletics/Webcasts.
