Santo Provenzano, who was named to the All-Tournament Team just like he was in last weekend’s Alvernia Tip-Off Classic (where Hood also won the consolation final), scored a game-high 26 points and David Wilson had his first double-double of the season with 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Blazers (3-2). Jesse Gutekunst just missed matching Wilson’s feat with 12 points and nine boards and Darnell Edmonds had six assists to go along with five steals.
Hood held a 43-39 lead at the break, but after a Ralph Sully 3-pointer with 16:38 to go, Framingham State (2-2) went up 48-47. That would be its last lead of the game, however, as Dennis Tressler nailed a trey of his own to put the Blazers back up for good.
Hood took control of the contest with a 7-1 run over just a 54-second span midway through the half. Jonathan Obecny began the surge with a dunk, and after a Provenzano jumper and a Sean Robine 3, the Blazers held a 64-55 lead with 10:21 remaining. Their lead would be no less than six the rest of the way
The Blazers held a 59-46 advantage on the boards and Framingham State was just 9-of-32 (28.1 percent) from 3-point land.
Sully, who was also named to the All-Tournament Team, led the Rams with 16 points and Ryan Dacey had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Hood gets back in action Tuesday at 7 p.m. at home against PSU-Altoona.
