Centre 59, North Carolina Wesleyan 53

EMORY, Va. — Men's basketball rebounds for 59-53 win
 
The Centre College men's basketball team defeated North Carolina Wesleyan 59-53 in the consolation game of the Food Country Invitational, hosted by Emory & Henry College, Sunday, Nov. 28, in Emory, Va.

Three Colonels scored in double figures lead by junior center Reggie Magnusson's 14 points and six rebounds. Magnusson made six of his 10 shots including two-for-two from the free throw line.

Senior guard Kyle Roby scored a season-high 12 points and added three assists. Roby was three of seven from the floor, including two of five from beyond the three-point arc, and four for four from the charity stripe.

Junior forward Coy Zerhusen added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds for the Colonels in the win.

Lenny Hall scored 12 points and Tony Covington added 10 points and nine rebounds in the loss for the Battling Bishops.

Neither team shot well. Centre finished the game 22-63 for 34.9%. North Carolina Wesleyan made 21 of its 62 shots for a 33.9% field goal percentage.

For his efforts Magnusson was named to the all-tournament team. The junior center averaged 11.5 points and five rebounds in the two games.

Centre will open its 2004-05 home slate as well as its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference season, Friday, Dec. 3, against Rhodes College. Former coach Tom Bryant will be honored before the game for his contributions to Centre College. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
