With Capital leading 54-52 with 12 minutes left in the game, Wooster would go on a 15-4 run midway through the second half to take a nine-point lead with seven minutes left n the game. Capital would get no closer than four-points the rest of the way as Wooster went on to the 10-point win and a 4-0 start to the season.
Tom Port scored 14 of his game-high 21 points in the first half, while James Cooper scored 13 of his 16 points and Tim Vandervaart hit 10 of his 17 points in the second half to lead Wooster.
Capital (3-2) had three players in double figures led by 19 points from Jake Beck. Freshman Mark Tinklenberg had a season-high 18 points with four three-pointers, while sophomore David Johnson had 12 points.
Capital led by as many as seven in the first half, when Jeff Hager hit a jumper for an 18-11 lead with 12 minutes left in the half. The Crusaders held a 31-26 lead with six minutes left the frame, before Wooster closed out the half on a 16-10 burst to take a 42-41 lead into the lockers.
Capital travels Tuesday to Washington, Pa., for a 7 p.m. game at Washington & Jefferson College.
