Suffolk 69, MIT 68

BOSTON — Suffolk wins on final second shot

With one second remaining in the game and MIT ahead, 68-67, Suffolk guard Chris Tighe (Easton, MA) inbounded the ball to guard Chris Devlin (West Roxbury, MA). Devlin fielded the pass and got off a layup to give the Rams a one-point win over MIT, 69-68.

The win was head coach Dennis McHugh's 100th career victory at Suffolk and the first of the 2004-05 season.

Junior center Josh Morelock (Poplar Grove, IL) led Suffolk with 20 points, hitting 10 of 13 attempts. He also pulled down 11 rebounds and had three steals in the game. Morelock drew the MIT defense in the final play of the game, allowing Devlin to slip to the baseline for the pass.

Devlin finished with four points and added four assists. Guard Brad Schoonmaker (Marion, CT) added 16 points, including three three-point shots. Guard John Murphy (North Reading, MA) had 14 points.

Suffolk returns to action on Thursday against UMass Boston.
