Benedictine (2-1), playing its third of seven straight games to open the season on the road, hung tough with the host in the first half. Loyola (2-1) used a 9-1 run at the end of the first half to break open a 26-20 contest and lead by a 35-21 count at the break. Benedictine got as close as five points (62-57) with under six minutes to play in the game, but Loyola's Majak Kou scored six straight points to push the Rambler advantage back into double-digits for good.
Benedictine held a 47-41 advantage in the rebounding department against a taller Loyola squad, but was forced into 27% (21-77) shooting for the game.
Zach Ramey had 14 points to pace the Eagles, while Matt Harrison added 13 as the other double-figure scorer. Will Crawford narrowly collected eight points and eight rebounds, while Jimmy Franklin yanked down a game-high 10 boards.
Kou came off the bench to lead Loyola with a game-high 20 points. The Ramblers shot 55% (27-49) for the game, but were forced into 17 turnovers by the Benedictine defense.
The Eagles continue their road trip on Tuesday, November 30, when they visit Carthage College.
