Coast Guard 68, Albertus Magnus 64

NEW LONDON, Conn. — Coast Guard opened the second half on a 23-7 run to erase a 12 point halftime deficit as the Bears beat Albertus Magnus 68-64 in a non-conference game.
The Bears began the game up 15-5 just five minutes in as Grant Johnson hit three three-pointers.
Coast Guard led 19-11, but was held without a field goal for the final 10:57 of the first half as Albertus Magnus used a 20-4 run to end the half and take a 38-26 at the break.
Coast Guard (2-1) used its big run to start the second half and take a 49-45 lead with 10:24 left. The Bears led by as many as 11 points in the second half (61-50), but Albertus Magnus (0-2) cut the lead to three at 67-64 on a pair of free throws by Anthony LaRosa with 12.9 seconds left.
Johnson and Jeff Prebeck (11 rebounds) led Coast Guard with 15 points each while Dan Sheppard, who had a game-high 19 rebounds also added 14 points. Kevin Edes was also in double figures for the Bears with 12 points.
Tim Russell led Albertus Magnus with a game-high 29 points while Bill Rose added 10 points and a team-high 12 rebounds for the Falcons.
