Aurora (2-2) had a chance to win in the closing seconds. Following a three-point basket by Adam McCoy with seven seconds remaining, McCoy stole the inbounds pass and fed the ball to Jeremy Cartwright, who missed a jumper as time expired.
Chicago (2-2) led the entire second half. The Maroons took their largest lead of the game at the 9:52 mark on a three-point play by Woodhead, giving Chicago a 54-45 advantage. Woodhead scored the final five points of the first period as Chicago took a 33-32 lead at the break.
Woodhead connected on eight of 10 shots from the field and was perfect on five free throw attempts.
Clay Carmody finished with 16 points for the Maroons, while Justin Waldie added 10.
Chicago was successful on 19 of 24 attempts (79.2%) from the foul line.
Larry Welton led the Spartans with 21 points, followed by McCoy with 19 and Cartwright with 11.
