Western Washington 103, Pacific Lutheran 60

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Six Western Washington University players scored in double figures as the Vikings blew open a tight game late in the first half and defeated Pacific Lutheran University, 103-60, in an opening round game of the 7th annual WWU/Chuck Randall Thanksgiving Men's Basketball Classic on Friday at Sam Carver Gymnasium.

Western, which improved to 4-0, was led by the 12 points of guard Ira Graham, who had all of those points in the
last seven minutes.

PLU, which fell to 1-2, was led by the 13 points of Michael Torbenson. Guard Jake Carstensen added 11 points.

The Vikings led just 17-14 with a little over eight minutes left in the first half, but outscored the Lutes, 29-4, the rest of the period, going 5-of-6 on 3-pointers in the run to establish a 46-18 lead at halftime. Western shot 55.9 percent (16-of-29) from the field in the opening half, including 53.8 percent (7-of-13) on 3-pointers, while holding PLU to 21.9 percent (7-of-32) from the floor.
