In the win over Cabrini, North Cental again started well, taking a 29-22 lead after a jumper by Adam Krumtinger (Towanda, Ill./Normal Community), assisted by Jeff Larson (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg). The Cardinals closed the first half up 11 (38-27) after Larson found Dan Doyle (Wheaton, Ill./Glenbard West) for a layup as the buzzer sounded.
In the second half, the Cardinals put the game away by taking a 64-47 lead with nine minutes remaining after back-to-back three-pointers from Larson. Larson, a transfer from Moraine Valley Community College (Ill.) finished with nine points and a team-high five assists. Ray Vicario (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) led the team in points with 19, including 7 of 8 from the field and 3 of 4 from three-point range. Daniel Walton (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North) added a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Mike Wilson (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) chipped in 11 points.
Vicario was named the Tournament MVP and Wilson also made All-Tournament.
Against Chowan, North Central got off to a quick start, taking a 19-6 lead after a steal and layup by Adam Teising (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central). The Cardinals ended the half with a three-pointer by Wilson to take a 43-22 lead at the break.
Wilson finished with 23 points, eight rebounds and seven assists to lead North Central. Krumtinger added 14 points and seven rebounds, and Vicario chipped in 10 points. Chowan (1-2) was led by Trayvon Lathan's 14 points and six rebounds. He was the only player in double figures for Chowan.
