Sul Ross State 86, Texas-Permian Basin 73

11/24/04- Odessa, Tx. — Lobos Beat Falcons in 86-73 Season Opener

11/24/04- Sid Hooper (Andrews) tallied a team leading 31 points as Sul Ross overcame a tough and improving U.T.P.B. squad downing the Falcons 86-73 as Sul Ross tipped-off the 2004-2005 basketball run.

Hooper nailed 7 shots from long range as Sully shot 53% from three point land in the first half. Hooper was perfect at the free throw line at 6-6.

El Paso native Larry Reese led the Lobos in rebounds with 8 boards.

Senior post Justin Steward (Texico, NM) tallied 15 points for the evening with 5 rebounds.

Rick Herrera (Alamogordo, NM) was assist leader with nine.

Frustration came late in the second half as the two teams were tagged with a combined 5 technical fouls after U.T.P.B. pulled within 11 points.

Sul Ross will bring its 1-0 start home to the Gallego Center Saturday afternoon as they begin conference play against Mississippi College. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
