Washington College 89, Salisbury 84

SALISBURY, Md. — Junior guard Travis Moore scored 16 of his career-high 19 points in the second half to lead the Washington College men's basketball team to an 89-84 win at Eastern Shore rival Salisbury University this evening. The Shoremen improved to 2-1 overall with the win, while the loss dropped the Sea Gulls to 2-1.

Salisbury held a 45-44 lead at halftime and increased the lead to 47-44 early in the second half. The Shoremen then went on an 18-9 spurt to go up 62-54 with 14:50 to play. The Sea Gulls came back to pull ahead, 76-75, on a jumper by Kyle Harmon with 7:00 on the clock.

Washington responded with a 7-0 run that began with a pair of free throws by junior forward Jonathan Webb with 6:52 remaining. Moore then nailed a three-pointer with 5:41 remaining and knocked down a jumper with 4:30 to go to give the Shoremen an 82-76 lead. Salisbury managed to pull back within one at 85-84 on a basket by Harmon with 19 seconds to play, but a pair of made free throws by sophomore forward Joe Breslin and another pair by Moore in the final seconds sealed the win for WAC.

Moore's 19 points came on six-of-nine shooting from the field and four-of-six shooting from beyond the three-point arc. Moore's previous career-high scoring output of 16 points came in the Shoremen's 93-79 win over the Sea Gulls last November 25th.

Junior guard Dustin Abbate finished with 17 points and knocked down four triples in the win for Washington. Webb and senior guard/forward John "China" Alexander turned in double-double performances. Webb tallied 16 points and 10 boards, while Alexander scored 13 points and collected a game-high 11 rebounds. Breslin added a career-high 14 points.

Salisbury's Segun Odumeru led all scorers with 25 points, while Sean Rozanski came off the Salisbury bench to score 23 points. Harmon, another Salisbury reserve, added 14 points.

Washington shot 47% from the field in the game to Salisbury's 44%. The Shoremen connected on 11-of-23 three-point field goal attempts and held a 46-35 advantage on the glass in the victory.
