Rochester 76, Nazareth 53

ROCHESTER, NY — The University of Rochester sank a season’s high 11 three-point goals tonight enroute to a 76-53 victory over visiting Nazareth College at the Louis Alexander Palestra.

Senior guard Ryan Mee (Hilton, NY/Hilton) sank four treys and scored 12 points in 18 minutes off the bench. Senior Brendan McAllister (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) hit three treys and scored 11. Junior Joe Canty (Dudley, MA/Worcester Academy) made two outside the arc while freshmen Jeff Juron (Niskayuna, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Robert Dominiak (New York, NY/Birch Wathen Lenox)scored one each.

The Yellowjackets had two double figure scorers inside. Senior Seth Hauben (Newton, MA/Newton South) scored 13 points and freshman Jon Onyiriuka (Painted Post, NY/Corning-Painted Post) scored 12.

Rochester improved to 3-0. Nazareth is 2-1. Ryan Shipley (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) led the Golden Flyers with 13 points and eight rebounds. He was Nazareth’s only double figure scorer.

The Yellowjackets used a 12-0 run over four minutes midway through the first half to build a 30-13 lead. Mee sank two treys. Onyiriuka made two layups and freshman Dan Milbrand (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) (eight points) made another.

Shipley’s layup completed a brief flurry by Nazareth which drew within 32-24 with 4:39 remaining. Canty answered with a three-pointer as Rochester closed the half with 14 straight points. Hauben scored six of the 14.

Rochester sank 11 of 23 outside the arc (48%). The Yellowjackets hit 7 of 13 in the first half (54%). Nazareth committed 21 turnovers for the game, leading to 26 Rochester points.
