Yeshiva trailed most of the second half in this annual game between two New York City schools, but overcame a 13-point second half deficit thanks to the strong three-point shooting of Dallas native Ian Ribald.
Ribald, who shot 7-11 from three-point range, hit his fifth three-pointer of the second half with eight seconds remaining to tie the game at 59 and eventually send it into overtime.
Rafi Halpert hit a jumper for a Yeshiva lead of 64-61 with 3:27 remaining, but Baruch closed out the overtime scoring the final seven points on a lay up by Sime Marnika, the Burzo three-pointer, and two free throws by O’Connor.
Point guard Chris Alesi notched two big assists on the Marnika and Burzo overtime baskets.
Louie Karis scored a team-high 15 points to lead four players in double-figure scoring. Marnika and Cheick Fadika each scored 14 points, while Burzo finished with 12 points and five assists.
Ribald scored 24 total points and Benji Golbert added 11 points and four rebounds for Yeshiva (0-2).
Baruch will return to action on Saturday with a non-conference home game in the ARC Arena against Mount Saint Vincent. Tip off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
