Washington College 81, Penn Tech 57

ELIZABETHTOWN, Penn. — The Washington College men's basketball team outscored Pennsylvania College of Technology, 49-27, in the second half en route to an 81-57 victory over the Wildcats this afternoon in the consolation game of the Elizabethtown Blue Jay Classic. Five players reached double figures in scoring for the Shoremen (1-1).

Junior guard Dustin Abbate led all scorers with 14 points in the win for the Shoremen. Junior forward Jonathan Webb and senior guard/forward John "China" Alexander each finished with 12 points, while sophomore forward Joe Breslin contributed 11 points and eight rebounds. Junior guard Kyle Stem tallied 10 points and dished out a game-high five assists, while senior guard Andrew Gentile added nine points, eight boards, four assists, and team-highs of five steals and two blocks. Junior forward Eric Blumenthal brought down a team-high nine rebounds.

Sam Flaherty and O'Dell Jones paced the Wildcats (3-2) in scoring, finishing with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Adam Walker collected a game-high 11 rebounds, while Greg Davis added 10 boards and a game-high four blocked shots.

The Shoremen, which held a 32-30 lead at halftime, shot 41% from the field, while Penn Tech shot 32%. Washington also maintained a 56-43 advantage on the glass. The two teams combined for 50 turnovers, with the Shoremen committing 21 and the Wildcats committing 29.

The Shoremen return to action Tuesday with a 7:30 p.m. game at Eastern Shore rival Salisbury.
