Robert Morris-Springfield 88, Simpson 86

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind.--CORRECTED STORY — Robert Morris-Springfield (Ill.) defeated Simpson 88-86 in overtime in the third place game of the Wabash Tournament Nov. 21 in Crawfordsville, Ill. The score was tied three times in the second half with each team have one lead apiece. Scott Ellens tied the score at 80 with a layup with three seconds remaining in regulation.

Ryan Hittenmiller hit a jump shot to put Simpson up. Matt Wiseman tied the game for the fifth time with a jumper. Tyler Morretto put the Eagles up 84-82 with a short jump. Ellens tied the game for the sixth and final time with a layup at the 2:36 mark of overtime. RMS' Bryan Barth was fouled with 1:41 to go and he hit one of two free throws to give Robert Morris the lead. Ellens put Simpson up 86-85 with a layup at the 1:25 mark. Travaras Reed sank a three-pointer with a little over a minute to go to make it the final 88-86.

The Storm had two chances to take the lead in the final 43 seconds. Keller missed a shot, giving the Eagles the ball, but Robert Morris turned the ball over with 11 seconds left. Morretto committed a foul, but the Eagles were under the limit. Simpson ran a set play for Jason Parkinson who missed a shot, giving Robert Morris the victory.

Parkinson charted career highs as he scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Ellens scored a career high 16 points on 7-8 shooting. Thorson had 14 points while Hittenmiller posted 11 points and a career high 13 rebounds.
