New York City Tech 60, Arcadia 58

BROOKLYN, NY — Freshman forward Toni Roselli (Garfield, NJ/St. Mary’s HS) came off the bench for a dozen points and six rebounds, and rookie guard Nerlande Nicolas (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) added 11 points as Rutgers-Newark romped to a 72-35 win at New York City College of Technology on Saturday afternoon in both school's season opener.

After forging a 31-20 halftime advantage, the Scarlet Raiders opened the second half with a 10-0 run fuel by a pair of field goals by Torres.

Twelve of 13 players scored for the Raiders who shot 45.2 per cent from the floor for the contest and owned a 42-36 edge on the boards against the Yellow Jackets. Sophomore guard Nicole Torres (Fairrview, NJ/Cliffside Park) collected eight points, four steals, three rebounds and two assists for the Raiders. Freshman Eni Fageyinbo (Morris Plains, NJ/Parsippany Hills) tallied six rebounds, five points, four steals and three assists in her debut.

Camille Manning (Queens, NY/Wiilam C. Bryant)paced NYC Tech with 15 ponts and four steals, and classmate Nichola Hall (St. Andrew's Tech/Bronx, NY) led the Yellow Jackets with eight rebounds.

City Tech will look to get the first win for new coach Freddy DeJesus on Tuesday night (7:00 pm, home) versus Centenary College (NJ).
