Marietta (0-2) struggled once again from the field, finishing the day 25-of-73 (34.2%), including 13-of-46 (28.3%) from long range. Columbia (1-1) shot 48-of-79 (60.8%), including 12-of-25 (48.0%) from beyond the arc in the win.
The Cougars, who led 81-46 at intermission and by as many as 51 points late in the game, had four players reach double figures. Andreas Jakobsen scored a career-high 42 points and added 17 rebounds.
The Pioneers were led by senior Matt Hines, who finished with 14 points on 5-of-13 shooting. Freshman Josh Hull added 11 points, while freshman Craig Stewart collected 10 in the loss.
Marietta will look to regroup Tuesday (Nov. 23) when they host Bethany (WV) in its home opener. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. The Pioneers will once again have a food drive during all home games. Those who donate a nonperishable good will receive a coupon for a free popcorn from the concession stand.
