Western New England 62, Hartwick 49

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Senior forward Anthony Charbatji (Attleboro/Attleboro, Mass.) had 18 points to lead Western New England College to a 62-49 victory over Hartwick College in the consolation game of the Scotty Wood Tournament at Muhlenberg College on Saturday.

Charbatji made 4 of 9 three-point field goals and had five rebounds and two steals for the Golden Bears (1-1), who trailed at halftime, 34-30.

The Hawks (0-2) made 12 of 29 field goals in the first half, but converted only 4 of 24 shots in the second half.

Junior guard Jon Godbout (St.Paul/Bristol, Conn.) had 17 points and six assists, and junior forward Jim Bayne (Bristol Central/Bristol, Conn.) finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots for Western New England.

Senior center Mike Wawrzonek (South Side/Rockville Centre, N.Y.) led Hartwick with 16 points on 5-for-9 shooting, including 4-for-8 from three-point range.

Junior guard Tim Kindlon (Bethlehem/Delmar, N.Y.) had 10 points, and freshman forward Eddie McAdoo (LaSalle Institute/Troy, N.Y.) contributed four points, nine rebounds and two steals for the Hawks.

Hartwick will travel to meet Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for a non-conference game at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
