Christopher Newport 82, Lake Erie 67

NEWPORT NEWS, VA — Christopher Newport's men's basketball team opened the 2004-2005 season with a commanding 82-67 win over Lake Erie Saturday night.

For the game, Lake Erie finished 28-of-73 (38%) from the field, 5-of-18 (28%) on three's and 6-of-8 (75%) at the free throw line. The Captains finished 30-of-61 (49%) from the field, 10-of-18 (56%) on three's and 12-of-16 (75%) from the charity stripe.

Robert Williams led the Storm with 20 points on 8-of-19 shooting. Nate Malensek and E.J. Kinney added 13 points each.
