With the help of sophomore Brandon Duncan, the Bison raced out to a big lead. Duncan scored Bethany’s first six points after nailing two three-pointers in the first 39 seconds of the game, as the Bison jumped out to a 19-6 advantage just 5:22 into the game. The Spartans cut the lead to two on multiple occasions, but never took the lead. Bethany built the lead to as many as 18 in the second half. So far this season, Bethany has led for all but one second in two games (Adrian won yesterday’s contest with two free throws with a second left to play).
Junior forward Mike Drahos led the way with 28 points on 11-of-14 shooting from the field. He went 2-for-3 from beyond the arc and made all four of his free throw attempts. He also added a team-high eight rebounds. In two games this season, Drahos is averaging 25.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game and has shot 72-percent from the field (18-of-25) and has not missed a free throw in 10 attempts. Sophomore Jim Deep scored 19 points, just one short of his career-high of 20, on 4-of-9 shooting from long range. He added five assists. Duncan also drained four three-pointers (4-of-8) en route to a season-high 17 points. Sophomore Chris Stephens filled the stat sheet with 10 points, five rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal in 29 minutes of action.
The Bison return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Marietta College at 7:30 p.m.
