WILMINGTON, Ohio — The Wilmington College Quakers were able to overcome a 17-point halftime deficit in winning their first game of the season and the first under new head coach Marc Kuntz.

The Quakers and Yellow Jackets battled back and forth for the first half until the visitors opened an 11-0 run, taking a 14-point lead that was shrunk to 12 by halftime.

The Yellow Jackets scored the first five points of the second half, increasing their lead to 17 before the hosts went on a 16-0 run, cutting the deficit to one with 14:41 to play in the game. The Quakers took their first lead of the period with 6:22 to play, and increased the lead to as many as five with 4:12 to play in the contest. Defiance cut it to one on two occasions, but were not able to overcome the Green and White.

David Guy led the Quakers with 19 points while Eric Stirling and Josh Rohrbacher had 14 and 12 while Zach Broermann and Deon Short each had 11 points. Short pulled down a team-high six rebounds while dishing out a trio of assists to pace the squad.
