Wheaton (Ill.) 117, MacMurray 83JACKSONVILLE, Il — MacMurray College opened their 2004-05 season at the Wheaton Tournament against the host school, who was ranked 17th in the nation. It was not the way Coach Darrin DeNeve, in his first year, wanted to unveil his new run and shoot pressure offense. The final score was 117-83 as the Highlanders fell to 0-1. The good news is that MacMurray was able to put 83 points on the board against a very good man to man defense for the Thunder. Wheaton had 7 players in double-figures and MacMurray 4, but the Thunkder out shot the Highlanders 53% to only 27% from the field. The rebounding edge also went to Wheaton, 71-54 and in the end the better team won. Renaldo McIntosh hit 12, Ryan Eberhart 12, Neil Compton 13 and the freshman Billy Long 14 in the MacMurray loss. Next up for MacMUrray is the Hornets of Kalamazoo.
