ROCHESTER, NY — Seth Hauben scored 20 points and collected 16 rebounds to lead three men in double figures as fifth-ranked Rochester defeated SUNY Fredonia, 84-56, in the first round of the Chuck Resler Invitational at the Louis Alexander Palestra tonight.
Brendan McAllister scored a career-high 18 points in 19 minutes off the bench. He sank five three-point goals. Freshman Jon Onyiriuka added 13 points and seven rebounds.
Nate Sanzo scored 11 points for Fredonia. He was the only Blue Devil in double figures. Chris Donahue added nine points.
Rochester will play Stevens Tech in the championship game. The Ducks defeated Denison (OH), 64-56. Fredonia will play Denison in the consolation game.
The Yellowjackets broke it open with a 22-6 run over 9 minutes midway through the first half. McAllister hit four three-point goals in the burst and finished the run with a driving fast break layup off a half-court pass from freshman Jeff Juron.
It was 43-29 at halftime.
