The Bison jumped out to an early 12-4 lead when junior guard Matthew Johnson drained a trifecta from the corner. The Greyhounds clawed their way back into the game and took a 24-22 advantage late in the first half when senior forward Brandon Zaleski sliced through a gap and hit a layup. They extended the lead to 29-26 when junior forward Ed Reid hit a floater just before halftime.
It was all Gallaudet in the second half as they erupted for 44 second half points. Junior guard Stephen DaSilva ignited the barrage when he stole the opening inbound pass and streaked down the court for the uncontested basket. The hosts went on an 11-0 run midway through the half to take a 46-37 advantage. Haney capped off the surge with a rim rattling dunk. The Greyhounds cut the deficit to four before the Bison put together a 6-0 flurry that included a ferocious two-handed stuff by Jackson. He then hit a pair from the charity stripe in the waning seconds, rounding the scoring out at 70-59.
Junior forward Zach Zsilavecz paced the visitors with 17 points, while classmates Steve Wenderfer and Reid finished with 15 and 11 points, respectively. With the victory, the Bison improve to 1-0 overall while the Greyhounds drop to 0-1.
