Colorado State-Pueblo 63, UW-Stout 55

PUEBLO, Colo — UW-Stout held the lead for the first 26 minutes of the game, but NCAA Division II Colorado State-Pueblo took over in the second half and handed the Blue Devils a 63-55 season opening loss, Friday, Nov. 19 in Pueblo, Colo., in the Al Kaly Shrine Classic.

The young Blue Devils jumped out to as much as an 11-point lead in the first half and held on to a tenuous 27-22 halftime lead. Colorado took the lead at with 14:33 showing on the second half clock and built up to a nine-point lead within three minutes.

Freshman Ryan Stangl helped the Blue Devils cut into the lead, scoring nine of his team-high 14 points in the final eight minutes of the game, hitting two 3-pointers and three free throws.

CSU-Pueblo (2-0) got 21 points from 6-foot, 9-inch Brian Vecchio, who connected on 6-of-12 3-pointers. Steve Raquet pulled down 10 rebounds.
