Carthage 77, Lake Forest 60

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men’s basketball team (1-0, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), tied for 35th place in the “D3hoops.com” pre-season pool, opened its 2004-05 season on Friday, November 19 with a 77-60 win over Lake Forest College at the Carthage Physical Education Center in Kenosha, Wis. Carthage led, 37-33, at halftime. The Redmen fell behind, 38-37, at 19:31 second period before taking the lead for good, 48-45, at 14:59. Carthage shot 47 percent (27-58), while the Foresters shot 36 percent (19-53). Pat Kalamatas had 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Brian Schlemm had 14 points, and Kevin Menard and Mark Morrison chipped in 12 points each. Franklyn Beckford topped Lake Forest with 21 points. The Redmen travel to St. Peter, Minn., on Sunday, November 28 to take on Gustavus Adolphus College in a 3 p.m. contest at the Lund Center. On Tuesday, November 30, Carthage plays host to Benedictine University (Ill.) in a 7:30 p.m. clash at the Carthage Physical Education Center.
