The fifth-seeded Thoroughbreds (16-9) will play at top-seeded Union in the semifinals on Saturday at 3 p.m., with the finals scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Skidmore is making its first post-season appearance since 1995 and its third overall. Cortland, the fourth seed, ends the season with a 17-11 record. The Red Dragons were in the post-season for the 10th time since 1990 (three NCAA, seven ECAC).
Sophomore Jon Rother (Sodus Point/Sodus Central) led Cortland with 15 points and freshman Dave Jutton (Red Hook) scored 13 points, 11 in the first half. Rother scored in double figures in all 28 games for the Red Dragons this season.
Martin scored 15 points in the first half, including six points during an 11-2 over the final 6:25 to give Skidmore a 36-24 halftime lead. An 18-3 run by the Thoroughbreds in the first 7:40 of the second half extended the lead to 54-27. Cortland got back to within 55-40 with 6:22 left but could not draw any closer.
